A wedding is one of the few events people genuinely plan their skin around. The lead time matters — skin treatments produce their best work over months, not days, and starting early gives you the flexibility to adjust, address unexpected concerns, and arrive at your wedding with skin that has been thoughtfully cared for rather than hastily prepared.
12 Months Out: Assessment and Foundation
This is the time to book a consultation with Nurse Lisa if you have not already. The 12-month mark allows us to assess your skin properly, identify any specific concerns that need time to address, and begin building the habit foundation — routine, active ingredients, SPF daily — that underlies every professional treatment. If you are new to a retinoid, this is the right time to introduce one.
Nine Months Out: Consistency and First Treatments
If your skin assessment indicated that in-clinic treatments are appropriate — skin needling, chemical peels, or both — this is typically when a series begins. Three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by a maintenance phase, is a common structure. The skin improvements from a treatment series accumulate over time.
Six Months Out: Refinement
A check-in consultation at six months allows us to assess progress and adjust if needed. This is also the point to make sure your home care routine is dialled in and consistently followed. SPF 50+ every morning is non-negotiable — UV exposure at this stage can trigger pigmentation that is difficult to address before the wedding.
Three Months Out: Maintenance and Protection
By three months out, the major treatment work is done. Maintenance treatments if appropriate, consistent home care, and no new actives or products introduced. This is not the time to experiment.
Six Weeks Out: Bridal-Ready
If a final peel or needling session is planned, it should be complete by six weeks out. This allows full recovery and for any post-treatment redness to fully resolve.
One to Two Weeks Out: Simplify
Pare the routine back to the essentials: gentle cleanser, moisturiser, SPF. Nothing new. If you are using a retinoid, step it back.
