Blemish & Acne Consultation

Persistent blemishes, congestion and acne are among the most common skin concerns Nurse Lisa sees at The Glow Co. Aesthetics in Gordon Park, Brisbane. A skin consultation is the starting point for a personalised treatment plan.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONCERN

Understanding blemish-prone skin

Blemishes and acne develop when excess sebum, dead skin cells and bacteria combine to block hair follicles. The result ranges from blackheads and whiteheads through to inflamed papules, pustules and cystic lesions. Skin type, hormones, lifestyle, skincare habits and genetics all influence how your skin behaves. Nurse Lisa takes a thorough approach at the skin consultation, assessing what is specifically driving your skin before building a treatment plan. The home routine and in-clinic care work together. One without the other delivers partial results.

YOUR NEXT STEP

The treatment pathway at The Glow Co.

The skin consultation with Nurse Lisa covers your full skin history, current skincare, lifestyle and any previous treatments or medical management. From this assessment Nurse Lisa builds a personalised in-clinic treatment plan and a step-by-step home skincare prescription using Murad Skincare. Every patient leaves with a take-home Murad care pack selected for their skin. Where in-clinic peel treatment is appropriate, Nurse Lisa uses the Murad professional peel system matched precisely to your skin. Skin needling is also available for patients with acne scarring or texture concerns.

Why This Approach Works

Simple. Evidence-Informed. No Drama.

Teenagers respond best to a routine they understand and can manage on their own. Nurse Lisa explains the why behind every step — not just what to use, but what it does and why consistency matters more than complicated regimens.

Many patients who have completed this appointment have reported meaningful improvement in their skin, with parents noting it has reduced the need to pursue harsher prescription options. A gentle, targeted Murad routine used consistently is often far more effective than starting with aggressive interventions.

The printed prescription goes home with your teen — complete with product images, application steps, morning and evening routine instructions, and tips for staying consistent. No guessing, no forgetting what was said at the appointment.

Nurse Lisa speaks directly to the teen, at their level. Parents are welcome to sit in and are included in the conversation — this is a team appointment, not a one-way lecture.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions we often hear

What does the skin consultation involve? +
Nurse Lisa takes a full history at consultation, including your skin type, blemish and acne history, hormonal history, current skincare and any previous treatments or GP management. The consultation produces a personalised in-clinic treatment plan and a step-by-step home skincare prescription. Every patient leaves with a take-home Murad care pack selected for their skin.
Do I need to stop my current skincare before coming in? +
No. Bring what you are currently using to your consultation. Nurse Lisa will review your existing routine as part of the assessment and advise what to continue, adjust or replace. Do not change your routine before your appointment.
I am already under GP or dermatologist management. Can I still come in? +
Yes. Bring any relevant notes, prescriptions or treatment history to your consultation. In-clinic skin treatments and a Murad home routine can complement existing medical management. Nurse Lisa will work within the context of your current care.
How long before I see results from treatment? +
This depends on the type and severity of your blemish concern and the treatment plan Nurse Lisa builds for you. Nurse Lisa will give you a realistic timeline at consultation based on your individual skin assessment.
